Experts claim Apple is now facing pressure to show it is not exploiting cheap labour overseas.

Former Foxconn managers claim the company has turned a blind eye to the problems as it kept costs under control. Apple yesterday insisted it was doing more than any other company to show it cared — such as auditing Foxconn 40 times since 2006.

Corporate governance campaigner Lucy Marcus said: “This is about a big company having to confront the question about how much control they have — or choose to take.”
