Lucy Marcus was interviewed by the BBC World Service about the development of European Silicon Valleys.

There is no doubt that in the beginning of the industry we think of as the technology sector, when it was first proving itself as a real leap forward, clustering together for skills and infrastructure that were designed to support the development of the industry was absolutely necessary…I think though, to the credit of the industry, that we have moved beyond this.

Now we know that which is categorized as technology can be categorized by the sectors for which it provides solutions. Technology is a tool that is only as useful as those that wield it. It is time to look to the sectors that the technology is being applied and have them play a greater role in driving technological advancement in their own industries
