Economics in Action: Venture Capital in Uncertain Times
Lucy will be giving a talk to the London School of Economics LSESU Economics Society for their Economics in Action Lecture Series.
Marcus is extremely well-known for her expertise in business and finance, particularly in rapidly growing fields such as biotech, pharmaceuticals and clean technologies. She has spoken in various capacities at conferences such as the World Economic Forum and at the European Economic Summit on a variety of issues, and her views are widely appreciated for their clarity in presentation and astute observations. Marcus was selected as a World Economic Forum Global Leader for Tomorrow, and featured by Director Magazine as Director of the Month, as well as being listed by Management Today as one of Britain’s 50 Most Powerful Women.
Lucy P. Marcus is the founder and CEO of Marcus Venture Consulting, a London-based venture capital firm that deals with clients from all around the world. Previously she was in charge of Marketing and Business Development for EMEA at Infinity Financial Technologies (IFT) as well as having held positions at PwC and in the US Treasury’s Economic Policy Division.
In this Economics in Action Lecture Series talk, Lucy P. Marcus will discuss the implications of the financial crisis on the venture capital industry and the future path of the industry. She will discuss the challenges along the way for the development of the venture capital industry, particularly in the light of new regulation and the crucial role that the venture capital industry plays in the development of new industries and in the nurturing of some of the most important businesses in the world. She will also talk about some of the areas of new growth for the world economy, particularly in areas such as biotechnology and the development of sustainable environmental solutions such as clean technologies and fuel substitutes.
